                  NOTICE OF JOINT HEARING

HB 1933    RELATING TO UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS          CPC/JHA
        Includes  in   addition   to   fines,   the  tools,
        implements, armamentriums, documents, materials and
        other property in case  of forfeiture for violation
        of licensed contractor work.

HB 2628    RELATING TO ADVERTISING                     CPC/JHA
        Regulates   "spamming",    the    transmission   of
        unsolicited e-mail and fax advertising, by defining
        scope   of   regulated   transmissions,   requiring
        advertisers to provide a phone number or electronic
        address at which  recipients may notify advertisers
        to   cease    further    transmissions,   requiring
        advertisers to add  initial, identifying letters to
        e-mail advertising  messages  and  advertising with
        adult content,  and  authorizes  electronic service
        providers  to   establish   a   policy  restricting
        unsolicited e-mail transmissions  and bring a civil
        action for actual  or  liquidated damages caused by
        knowing violation of the policy.

 
HB 2349    RELATING TO INSURANCE                       CPC/JHA
        Allows an insurer to  recover the amount of covered
        loss deductible provided by  statute and that would
        have reduced the insurer's liability with regard to
        the claim, from the  insured whose conduct resulted
        in inapplicability of  the  covered loss deductible
        to the claim.

HB 2350    RELATING TO COVERED LOSS DEDUCTIBLE         CPC/JHA
        Repeals law providing for covered loss deductible.

HB 2951    RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES                  CPC/JHA
        Allows police officers  to inspect unlicensed motor
        vehicle  repair   dealers   for   the   purpose  of
        establishing  rightful  title  or  registration  of
        vehicles  or  identifiable  vehicle  components, in
        order   to   determine    rightful   ownership   or
        possession.

HB 1762    RELATING TO MOTOR CARRIERS             TRN, CPC/JHA
HSCR 23    Clarifies the scope  of  entities  subject to civil
        penalties for failing to comply with motor carriers
        law.

        vehicles.

HB 1913    RELATING TO PARKING CITATIONS                   CPC
        Extends the period of time a rental car company has
        to provide the  address  of  a  lessee who incurs a
        parking citation while using the rented vehicle.

HB 2918    RELATING TO COLLECTION AGENCIES                 CPC
        Amends collection agency  regulations to conform to
        federal standards.

HB 2716    RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS                        CPC
        Clarifies  that   a   board   of   directors  of  a
        condominium association that solicits proxies using
        association  funds  must  comply  with  the  30-day
        notice requirement.  Authorizes use of copy, fax or
        other reliable reproduction of proxies.

HB 2798    RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION          LAB, CPC
HD 1       Provides a number of factors that the Director
HSCR 478   of Labor and  Industrial  Relations may consider in
        approving  attorney's  fees,  including  comparable
        civil litigation attorneys' fees.
